Captain’s Choice
All Highlands BackblastsMay 31st, 2018
On what seemed to be the latest of a never-ending series of humid mornings 17 of MECA’s finest gathered in pre-dawn gloom for a beatdown. After the disclaimer was given and FNG Derek Comfort welcomed for his second beatdown the PAX moseyed over to the parking lot by the Highland Creek golf course.

THE THANG
After Warmarama the PAX split into groups of 3 for a cycle of exercises with a detour of bonus burpees dictated by performance on the putting green. The sequence of exercises were performed going up the parking lot with cones indicating where to change to the next one:
- Lunge and rotation to the 1st cone
- Burpee Broad Jump to the 2nd cone
- Google Bun Shapers to the 3rd cone
- 20 WWII sit ups
- Run back to the putting green
Each cycle started with a putting challenge on a course set up on the putting green just off the bottom of the parking lot. There were 2 holes lit up with LED lights and some additional illumination although this was not needed with dawn coming fairly early. Each hole had 3 putting locations with an increasing burpee penalty if all 3 were missed. The teams could choose to stop after any missed put but if the next distance was attempted they would have to do the next number of burpees. The increments were 8, 11 and 13 burpees to be completed after a run to the front of the golf clubhouse after which they would complete the next sequence of parking lot exercises. After about 30 minutes of fun we moseyed back for Mary.

MOLESKIN:
- Second time trying this workout. With 3 chances at each hole the PAX did a better job of avoiding the burpee cycles but from my unscientific tally it looked like it was still around 50% of rotations taking the detour.
- Once again the PAX showed why none of us were playing at Quail Hollow in early May although @Drop Cloth was impressive making a couple, including from the middle distance. YHC is using the excuse that I did not bring my long putter, will have to remember for next time.
- FNG Derek Comfort made his second post and was given the F3 name of Southern. Welcome to the fold and we are looking forward to seeing you out here on many more occasions. Thanks to @The Farm for bringing Derek out and making the trek to Highlands.
- King Tiger 5K is this Saturday. This race typically has a good turnout from F3. http://runforyourlife.com/king-tiger-5k/
- @Solo Cup has the Q for RED Friday at Harrisburg tomorrow.
