Mystery Date Murph
All Highlands BackblastsFebruary 26th, 2018
Four men posted at the Highland Creek Sports Club this morning to once again honor the memory of Lt. Michael Patrick Murphy through our monthly running of the Murph. It was looking like date night for YHC and @Filibuster at 530AM until we spotted @The Nanny rambling down the hill towards us in a familiar red F3 shirt. As we prepared to start, we noticed a mysterious stranger enter the park from the other side and begin the familiar exercise rotation of pull ups, merkins, and air squats. Intrigued we left the comfort of the parking lot and headed up the heartbreaking hill of Clarke Creek Parkway. Here’s how it went down:
- Run One Mile
- 10 pullups
- 20 merkins
- 30 air squats
- Repeat exercise cycle 10 times
- Run One Mile
By the time we got to the park, we found that the mysterious stranger was none other than @Sully getting an early start on his own Murph so he could make it to work on time. We’re still not sure how he got to the park through the back entrance but we assume he knew what he was doing. There were only about two sets of overlapping exercises before @Sully bid us adieu for his final run. We got about halfway through the exercises before two more guests joined us. @Grinder and @Ty Webb stopped by to say hello as part of the Skywalker mega-running training circuit but didn’t stay long enough to take part in any exercises. There were only three of us left by the time we finished things up with a TOT (triangle-of-trust) and prayer.
Thanks to everyone who showed up throughout the morning. We had just enough misty rain to keep us cool through this warmest-February-ever but not enough to really get us wet. There was plenty of 2nd F going around to keep everyone happy despite the always challenging beatdown. We’re here on the last Monday of every month for any PAX that would like to join us in March.
