No Man Left Behind

All Highlands Backblasts

December 5th, 2017 By Barrister

16 PAX and 2 FNGs decided to get out of the comforts of the fartsack this morning and try out a semi-RED Friday, semi-Boot Camp beatdown dedicated to a friend of mine, Army Private First Class Morris Walker (a.k.a. Mo) of Chapel Hill, N.C. via Fayetteville, N.C..  He was assigned to the 1st Battalion, 501st Parachute Infantry Regiment, 4th Airborne Brigade Combat Team, 25th Infantry Division out of Fort Richardson, Alaska.  He died at the age of 23, on August 18, 2009 in Dila, Afghanistan.  He and Staff Sgt. Clayton Bowen were killed when an IED detonated near their vehicle.  These names may be familiar to you as Pfc Walker and Staff Sgt. Bowen are the first two casualties linked to the search for Bowe Bergdahl.  I am not getting into the politics of Bowe Bergdahl, as the politics do not matter.  I am not going to debate whether he died searching for Bergdahl or providing protection for the Afghani presidential election, because every mission after Bergdahl went missing had a secondary component to it.  This beat-down is dedicated to Mo and all those like him who lived and died by the mantra, No Man Left Behind.  Because no matter how you feel about Bergdahl, in the military no man is left behind and that should be the case in our daily life.  So, as you enter this Holiday Season, think about all those people out there who are currently being left behind and give them a helping hand.  Whether it be giving someone a hot meal, or giving toys to a kid who otherwise would not get anything this Holiday Season, every act of kindness helps.  Please think of those less fortunate than you, and remember to let no man be left behind.  (Gump had some serious mumble chatter directed at YHC this morning as I gave a thorough disclaimer.  Apparently Gump has not attended one of my beatdowns before.)

Warm-O-Rama:

20 x SSH

10 X Mercans

20 x Mountain Climbers

The Thang

Head out on Highland Creek Parkway 1st Intersection

10 Mercans, 10 Moutain Climbers, 10 Squats in Cadence

Explain to the PAX the workout.  At every intersection between here and Ridge Road you stop and wait on the six (I intended for everyone to do the above rotation on their own but everyone seemed pretty beat and the six was never far behind).  Once the 6 arrives, you do 10 Mercans, 10 Mountain Climbers and 10 Squats in Cadence.  Rinse and Repeat down to Ridge Road and back.  A quick audible was called after (I believe) 5 streets, as time was running out.  We headed back to Highland Creek Elementary School with two more stops before a little mosey to the end.

Homer to Marge (We were out of time and YHC was out of breath.  I was so out of breath I screwed up the Homer to Marge order #SMH)
