Shhhhhh….. don’t tell Dropcloth that it’s back

All Highlands Backblasts

August 10th, 2017 By Disaster

Twenty one men showed up in nearly perfect weather this morning at Highland Creek Elementary School for the third running of the Dropcloth 500. @Dropcloth had previously stated that he would not allow his name to be associated with the race without a share of the royalties, but since he wasn’t here and there aren’t any royalties anyway we moved ahead with the original title. After a quick disclaimer the PAX moseyed over to the bus lot, which for the first time that I can remember actually had real buses parked in it. Here’s how it all went down.

The PAX headed over to the turn out circle which served as “pit row” for today’s race. The PAX were instructed to complete the first exercise followed by one full lap (almost 500 meters) around the bus lot and then head back to pit row. Add one new exercise to the routine after each lap, while still keeping the previous exercises as well. The goal is to complete seven full sets of exercises and seven laps in the thirty minute time window as follows:

Time was called at 5:07, with (some of) the PAX completing 30 monkey humpers while we waited for the stragglers to finish. #TClaps to those men who were able to complete all seven laps in the allotted time. Alas I was not one of them, but I did make it to six. For those of you who didn’t cheat (see item two in the moleskin below) seven laps comes out to be just over two miles of running.

MOLESKIN

  1. It felt like a real NASCAR race with assorted school buses and learning cottages parked haphazardly around the infield.
  2. Several “drivers” felt the need to cut corners through the infield around the turns, even after President @Pony Boy called them out for violating the rules. Apologies for a lack of clarity in my original instructions.
  3. Welcome back to @Fame, who spent the past 2+ months in Chicago at graduate school. Apparently the multiple sets of high kicks and jazz hands didn’t prepare him for today’s humidity or the seven sets of burpees after all.
  4. Don’t forget Red Friday at the Precinct tomorrow at 530AM. Located in the Wellington neighborhood on Saxonbury Way. See the daily email for more details.
  5. Also F3 Kannon is launching this Saturday at 7AM at the NC Research Campus in Kannapolis. Come out and support the launch if you get time. Again, see the daily email for details.
  6. Prayers for safe travels and nice weather for those of us joining the F3 Dads Campout this weekend. Should be a great time.
  7. Signup Genius is looking awfully empty for August. Please sign up to ‘Q’ if you haven’t done so in while. Remember, if I can do this anyone can.

Thanks to everyone who posted today. As always, it is an honor to serve you men and be a part of this community. Please EH someone and show them what they’re missing.
