Strong Convergence at Sirius
All All MECA BackblastsAugust 26th, 2016
Parking lot at Sirius was a lot darker than I remember. Seem to be a lot more split rail fencing up than three years ago, but we’ll put it to good use.
Cars were still rolling in at 0530 when the Sirius reunion was launched – hopefully one of those was Parkour? Brief disclaimer (did he say something about uneven ground?) and off we went on the Parkour lap.
Warm-a-rama
We ran lap around parking lot and then down the side road, on our way to the big field beyond the playground. Include toy soldiers, lunges, butt kickers and high knees along the way. Good to see you up there, Tugboat! Field is quite large, accommodated us nicely and moon put enough light out so we weren’t side-straddle-hopping into each other.
- SSH x 20
- Cotton Picker x20
- Windmill x15, slow for the ‘respects’
- IST x15
- Clock Merkins x5 each
- Regular
- Diamonds
- Wide
- Carolina Dry Docks – at least its in the Merkin family
Thang
The warm-a-rama blended right into the Thang but this is a good as break as any. Mosey back through the playground, when Hammer says ‘Watch out for the rocks.’ Good idea, grab a rock. Lots to choose from, carry overhead to the lot by the loading dock. Circle up and lets see if we picked the right size rock. No matter, dance with the rock that brung ya.
- Arm curls x15
- Overhead press x15
- Rock swings – careful! x15
- Chest press x15
- Rock LBCs x10
Mosey down the front walk which seems to go on for miles. Enough wall space and pillars to handle the PAX nicely and the echo is superb.
People’s Chair
Can’t just have everybody sitting around, so:
- Rock curls x15
- Air press x20
Followed by everybody’s favorite, balls-to-the-wall. We weren’t inverted too long, but long enough to get that numb tingling in your toes and the calm relaxing feeling of blood rushing to your head. No Mas! Q needs to revert to right-side-up.
Wall Mountain Climbers x9. YHC never quite knows when the max will be reached, but when it is, there ain’t no more.
Mosey to bleachery hill
Q getting sick of his rock, but trying to keep above head, as we head over to the bottom of the hill, where we leave our rocks and lunge walk to the split rail fence. From there, we do 10 derkins, run across field to abandoned rock, 10 curls, up the hill for 10 LBCs, back down for 10 curls and across the field for 10 derkins. Q took a tumble after instructions were given, but just wanted to make sure everyone knew it was uneven ground #actionsLouderThanWords #thankMeSomeday.
Repeato.
Q on the move!
Partner derkins
Mosey to loop in front of school, which is just long enough for a few rounds of partner derkins / patty-cake WW-II situps. Bonus here is that we get to put the rock down.
The highlight of workout was, first picking up a lighter rock…. then doing the weave mosey through the pillars back to the rock pile.
Mary
Return to upper lot for Mary which was led mostly by Sirius launchers – but not entirely, and I know I missed some as well, which is why we need to do it again.
- Hammer – Homer to Marge
- Moses – can opener
- Pox – squirm!
- Mountie – J-Lo
- Skipper – Plank jacks
- KGB – Mason Twist
Moleskin
Thanks to everybody for coming, 34 was final total, was a treat to lead you all around this morning, and see some faces that haven’t seen a while, #gladItWasDark. Thanks to Pox again for getting me out, has meant a lot to me over the last 3 years, even with break between Sirius shutdown and Rolling Stone rampup. Thanks to Rolling Stone brothers that came out to join me. Check out podcast by Moses, especially if you haven’t read Dredd’s Free To Lead book. Moses does a good job of explaining why we do this, and its a link you can send around when EH’ing.

Keep Louisiana folks in your prayers as the cleanup is a monumental task. Good job to Sparknut, down there doing the Lord’s work.
Also pray for Michelle Stanly and here family, as she has a very rare form of cancer.
Isotope 5 year anniversary workout, North Meck park, Sat 0700.
There was a Gump sighting, seen but not heard is very odd for Gump, but apparently he’s having some Vertigo problems; hope you get better soon. Thanks for giving it a go, nonetheless.
Have a great day!

Anybody remember what Skipper did for Mary? Drawing a blank.
Did I imagine seeing Gump? I thought there were 37?
Gump has been struggling with vertigo lately and has had to leave several workouts early. I’m guessing that’s what happened today. Feel free to add him to the PAX list.
Gump, hope you get better soon! Glad you showed up in the beginning!
Skipper called the plank jacks.
Nice job today, Schnitzel. Good to see some PAX that I haven’t seen in a while, including some that are SUPPOSED to be RS regulars…
Until next time.
point taken MC, I plan for at least one post at RS next month
Thanks, Marie, plank jacks inserted.
Good work @Schnitzel and congratulations!
One of the worst moments from this morning, for me, was when my partner who shall remain nameless, released his…flatulence while we were doing WWII sit ups. I am amazed by how a) the smell hit us all instantly and b) that it could smell so bad OUTDOORS.
Good seeing various MeCa and Isotope brothers this morning!
Great work Schnitzel; I’m glad we met last week to discuss what we could do with 30 guys in the gloom, you wisely decided to do nothing I suggested which made it a great time for all.
For those Pax who were first timers at the old Sirius grounds, we only covered about 10% of the available real estate.
Great to see old friends (not old timers yet).
I didn’t call any names, Pox, but as they say a hit dog will squeal…ha
Was good to see you regardless and do hope to see you at RS soon, knee art and all.
Hate I missed it. Recooping from the funk and preparing for the Ruck tomorrow with @Whatley. Looks like an awesome time. Hopefully, there will be another Sirius Convergence again soon #Siriusly
Nice job @Schnitzel. I always enjoy visiting a new AO and usually end up learning a new exercise along the way. In this case it was the Patty Cake WW2 Sit Ups. Fortunately my partner @Moses has arms that are about seven feet long so it required little effort on my part. Even when @Nanny and @Skipper tried to elbow in on our space. Thanks for leading us today.
Great job Schnitzel!
Hopefully we can evaluate to see if it can be supported again. It will definitely be in session once those proposed neighborhoods on Cox Mill Rd start springing up!
When we post there again, hopefully the parking lot lights will be working. Imagine if you had chosen a new moon!
Haskell pointed out that we have a decent stretch of shelter for exercising for when we have a rainy morning.
I haven’t been able to post to a convergence workout in a while, so this was great!
Loved hearing the in sync In Cadence counting this morning, and the out of sync RS cotton picker claps!
Well done @Schnitzel and Happy 3 years to you! That number of PAX can not be easy to manage and you did masterfully! And a pretty cool AO too, lots of options! Do I sense a renaissance??? (pronounced ren-NAY-sance)
Always enjoy a convergence, great to see everybody out this morning!
Who’s in for the Isotope 5 year bash tomorrow??!!
Hope you get better soon gump
Great lead schitzel!
Great to be back out.
Shnitzel, great lead brother. What a turn out! U got to love that. Felt like I was a part of something bigger today. Great feeling.
Good to see the stoners representing this morning.
Let me not forget my Skywalker brothers. I seen ya.
Sparky not sure about you man. Ur a Skywalker/ rolling stoner. Ur a skystoner. Ha respect.
@Waterboy, Tclaps for posting. First one back is the hardest, so you’re good to go now.
@Schnitzel. Congrats on 3 years. Great turnout to all the PAX. Sirius must have been a great AO. Hope to see it back someday
Schnitzel, nice to see such a strong turnout for the Sirius anniversary. This must have been a great AO (so much space and endless options for pain stations). Congrats on 3 years, that’s dedication! Hope everyone has a great weekend.
Shoot! Look what I missed because of a bum shoulder! I was planning on coming out and supporting Dad, when my stupid ball’n’socket joint took a turn for the worse yesterday. Oh well, as long as its fine by Tuesday, I’ll be seein’ some of you in the gloom at RS.
Until then…sleep in
Congratulations on three years Schnitzel!
Thanks all, was fun today. The beginning mosey from the barely lit parking lot to the non-lit field gave new meaning to “in the gloom”.
TClaps on three-years Brothers.
Sorry to hear about Gump. #TAP
Thanks for the shout-out on #FTL. One program note, without OBT’s co-authorship, it wouldn’t be worth reading and too light to make a decent doorstop.
#DO Brothers of the MECA!
