I truly apologize to all the kids who were hurt this morning. And to all the dads whose kids were hurt. This was not well thought out. I am sorry.
Man Down took over as various dads and I tended to the wounded. Bandaids and popsicles seemed to ease the pain a little.

4. Thanks to Gamma for having a first aid kit!

Today was an interesting one for me. I hate that I organized something that hurt some kids. But I also love that so many Dads and their 2.0’s had a ton of fun!!
Great to see everyone out there today! All (well, most anyway) of the kids looked like they had a super fun time! Those who got banged up in the tug-o-war seemed to recover well, and I hope they are feeling better now. As Co-Q, I join Dingo in apologizing for the injuries. We love our kids, and one of the most gut-wrenching feelings is to witness a child getting hurt. Hopefully those kiddos come back out again and redeem the experience!
Great event today guys! Don’t beat yourselves up. Accidents happen. My kids were just as likely to bloddy themselves up all on their own. And the rest of my kids thank you because their sister used the injury to get doughnuts out of me afterward. Thanks for planning and hosting!
Soooo, is it too early for M.A.S.H. jokes? Asking for a friend…
But seriously, hope all the 2.0s are doing well. Popsicles definitely helped. And as @AstroVan said, our kids are just as likely to injure themselves anywhere else. There’s a reason I carry a first aid kit in my car!
But more seriously, before the carnage, Team 1 was totally winning the tug-o-war. Even the Swedish judge said so!
Best dialogue of the morning:
@RandomKid: who are you dressed up as?
@Skipper (in his @Skipper hat): who do you think I am?
@RandomKid: uh, Captain Obvious?
Men of Tradition – as always, thanks for the hospitality. Solid group of men, strong in all 3 F’s. Great to see you all again.
Men of Tradition –
Enjoyed it this morning. Glad everything me was able to walk away from the tug of war. Funniest exchange I had today was with Gamma:
Gamma: is everyone ok?
Me: yeah
Gamma: good…so we were winning, right?
Me: yes (laughing hysterically)
Yeah, I didn’t realize how competitive @gamma was. He looks at me after the water cup relay and says, “we’re two for two, let’s close this thing out…”
TClaps to Dingo and Man Down, leading 70+ pax is no easy feat. And don’t be hard on yourself, it wouldn’t be a @Tradition beatdown without some blood and whimpering.
Sounds like an awesome workout with the kids! Hate we had to miss it. 2 more are planned this summer right?
Can’t wait to come next time! Hopefully there will be less blood, but it’s a part of being a kid so thats probably no big deal.
I would also love to help plan out and be a co-Q. Planning games for kids is kind of my thing.
