Roads: A Disappointing Alternative to Trails
All All MECA BackblastsMay 1st, 2016
8 pax showed for the 6:30 schedule of what should have been our last trail run out at the WWC in advance of Time Laps this weekend. Due to the prolific rains last night and the potential for heavy rains this morning, we called an audible and hit the streets of the Creek instead. Boo.
The Thang:
- YHC laid out three options; 201 Central Loop, Stonebridge Out and Back, or the Skybrook Out and Back. Filibuster said he did not want to do Millstream, so we should to the Skybrook route….which took us on Millstream.
- Had three different pace and distance groups which worked out great. Guys ranged from 5 – 8 miles.
The Naked Moleskin:
- It was exciting to discover the eye of the hurricane and avoid heavy rain….until the very, very end of the run.
- Always good to see Stoli show up in his fancy ADI DAS sleeveless shirt. Summer has arrived. Actually it was even a bigger apparel day for Stoli b/c he was running in his brand new “runners shorts.” He said he had been inspired by other runners amongst the pax and decided there might be something to not wearing basketball shorts that brush your ankles when significant sweat is in the forecast. He took full advantage of the running liner and went #SingleWrapped. I believe he is headed from these 9 inch inseam shorts to some really short ones by end of summer.
- There was some mocking of YHC’s color organized closet, but I still say, why would you NOT hang like colored shorts and shirts together?
- Enjoyed a fast finish and bonus mile with Goldfinger at the end of the 7 mile run which took us to 8. He has his sights on a 40 min 10K.
