Hard as Nails M3
With notice that we were relocating to OPS due to weather, 11 men joined YHC for a beatdown and some stretching. We were joined for the 2nd time this week by the young men of Hard As Nails Ministry, welcome! The relocation was fortuitous, as was YHC’s workout plan, as cinder blocks would work just fine for this beatdown and they were readily available on site for those that had no KBs. After initial gathering in the closest school alcove as the rain came down, we relocated to the back alcove closest to the blocks as the rain diminished to almost nothing.
Warmarama: SSH, WM, Little/Big Baby arm circles, HBs, CPs
M1: A WOD that I ripped straight from ruck.beer heavy training program. QIC actually did part of it yesterday as part of a ruck workout. YHC had a leftover container from a large Shepherd’s Pie from Costco that worked just dandy as a weinke, although not nearly as large as the
over compensating massive Manwich varieties. Cinder blocks are more than suitable. It went like this (all with coupon):
- 20 Manmakers
- 20 LBCs
- 20 Thrusters
- 20 4 ct Low Flutters
- 4 rounds or 15 minute time limit
15 minutes was likely far too aggressive as nobody finished, but plenty of work was performed for the entire time. Using cinder blocks was not has easy as YHC remembered for the manmakers, rucksacks work far better. No blocks harmed.
M2: Many of YHC’s favorite stretches focusing on hips, hammies, spine, shoulders, pecs, etc.
M3: Kilowatt, Wrong Way and YHC at Sweet Spot after
COT: Prayers for Jimmy Buffett who is dealing with a heart condition; Col. Russ Olson who was taken to the ER and will now be seeing a Neurologist; my parents; injured pax (Soprano, Life Alert, etc.); and last but not least, safe travels for the young men of Hard As Nails Ministry as they head back to Syracuse where they are based out off…brrrr.
Moleskin: Great energy and mumblechatter out there this morning. Great to see the HAN guys back out again as YHC missed them on Monday. Great work from everyone. Sadly there was not a Firestone appearance in his swanky joggers. We went with the 7 dwarves names as we used the first name of Orlando as our jumping off point for naming. They did roll in driving a van reminiscent of the A Team, but only 4 are in the A Team and we already have a Murdock in MeCa, sigh. Special shout out to our guy Tony, the OPS custodian. He popped his head out mid-way through the workout to see what the commotion was all about. I believe he was impressed, but declined to join in. He later re-appeared from another door offering us use of the water fountain and bathrooms inside the school! We all declined, but dang, how about that for hospitality! I don’t remember Sparknut ever offering us something like that at CB, hmmm. There have definitely been some positive experiences recently on Friday M3s at OPS outside of just avoiding rain. As always, it was a pleasure to lead. Have a great weekend, brothers!
