F3Concord – Popeye’s Concord Highlights Tour

  • When: 01/12/2019
  • QIC: Popeye
  • The PAX: TP, Luthor, Psycho T, Catfish, Mountie, Mighty Mouse, Homeland, Spud, Frostbite, Grover

11 pax gathered on a brisk but clear morning for a tour of where the other half live.

Warm up:
Mosey across Branchview to Cabarrus Family Physicians parking lot (formerly Kramer and Eugene’s to the OG’s of Concord) for:
20 SIde straddle hops
20 Air Squats

We braved the 5 lanes of traffic down Copperfield Blvd to the Gateway Medical building for the first pain station:
20 Air squats

Next we moved at a brisk pace down the road to Copper Alehouse for:
20 Air squats
20 Corekillers

At this point Catfish really thought we were going to Kannapolis but we waved at the folks sobering up at Waffle House and turned into Sycamore Ridge to see Grover’s clients. Since he’s too professional to say which houses he maintains, I had to assume the best looking ones were his. At the roundabout we did:
5 Burpees
10 Corekillers
20 Air squats

Next we moseyed to the Overbrook neighborhood and saw Luthor’s old stomping ground. I hate hills so we ran up hills (I’m trying to push my comfort zone).

Next we ran to Burrage Rd where the pax divided. Some got onto Branchview and went back to Mary, while others squeezed as much pain out of the run as possible and continued under Branchview to Epworth for the final pain station:
10 diamond Merkins
20 Air squats

From there we proceeded to Mary for some Broga and runners stretches

We prayed for the Campbell, Guthrie, and Warner families as they battle tragedies and illnesses. We also remembered Private Ryan and the bag of frozen peas in his lap.

This was my first Q in a long, long time and I realized I was way overdue to step up to the plate. You guys have helped me improve my physical and mental fitness so much over the past 6 months and it was time I paid back some of my dues. The beautiful sunrise at the beginning was a sign that it was going to be a good morning. I appreciate Homeland’s safety checks on Copperfield Blvd. As usual, Frostbite set the pace for high achievers, the devil dog that he is. I thought I heard Hoorahs in the distance. Mountie was truly confused for the first portion, but I appreciate his faith that I wasn’t leading him to dangerous places. Luthor was caught reminiscing about when he threw the best parties in Concord since Can’t Hardly Wait. We were all thoroughly exhausted by the end.

Some of us came to F3 thinking we’re going to transform into studs and PT beasts. I discovered over this past year that perfection is a fool’s errand and progress is the true goal. I have seen many guys in our group make exceptional progress especially Spud, Luthor, and myself. I can’t say thanks enough for everyone’s help and encouragement in making that progress. I know for a fact that I couldn’t have done this on my own and I know that the future is bright with more improvement to come. I look forward to leading again soon.

Respectfully,
Popeye
