Chuck Norris, we’ve missed you!

All All MECA Backblasts

December 6th, 2016 By Sugar

8 PAX joined YHC to enjoy the gift of a rainy beatdown!  Here’s why I like the rain, or rather, working out or running in the rain.  To me it provides a bigger sense of accomplishment because it’s uncomfortable (at first), difficult (sometimes) and well it’s just not normal.  So it really wasn’t much a of surprise to me why I enjoyed my first F3 workout as the concept is similar – uncomfortable, difficult and not normal. So…..add the two together and well….an unbelievable sense of accomplishment and camaraderie.  And really, who doesn’t like playing in the rain!!

Oh, right….Chuck Norris.  Well back in the days of the Old School, way before light sleeping babies and irate sad clowns (Hi Jerry!!) visited us repeatedly, we would find warmth and shelter from the rain or extremely low temps under the infamous Chuck Norris Alcove.  A quaint little spot on the back side of HRMS with enough room to keep us occupied in the gloom.  Not really sure how it got it’s name??  You could ask Chuck Norris himself but, of course, he would only tell you after he knocked you unconscious.  After all, a secret is a secret!

The Thang:

Quick disclaimer (to include making sure all the PAX knew they’d get wet) and wasting no time for a short Mosey we circle up for warm up:

SSH x 20

Windmills x 20

Indian Run to Old School

Take quick break for some split rail fence work – Incline/Decline Merkins x 10 IC

Oh look a hill!!  Well, not a big hill but big enough for a bit of Jacob’s Ladder with a little Quadrephelia  thrown in. 1 to7 Burpees at the top, run back down then back up (literally) the hill for your burpees.

Now where were we going?  Oh yeah Chuck Norris.  Indian run to CNA for some modified Chelsea!  At this point YHC is disappointed that our, yes our picnic tables have been removed!! Chuck Norris would have GONE OFF!!  Seriously, pretty sure someone would have gone to the hospital!  YHC however just called an audible.  (wouldn’t want to hurt anyone).

LBCs x 5

Merkins x 10

Squats x 15

All within 1 minute – repeato for about 10 rounds or so.  Oh yeah audible, Hand Release Merkins and Lunges for LBCs.

Welcome Marie Callender!! And TClaps for the extra mileage put in tracking us down.  Always in the last place you look!!

Enough of the 1 minute thing.  Mosey to the dumpster wall for muscle-up/peoples chair combo with some air presses thrown in for a long time!

Indian run back for some Mary: (cold wet pavement feels awesome)

LBCs x 15

Pretzel crunch x 15

Mason twists x 15

Moleskin:

  1. Enjoyed it brothers! ( is pretty decent for a wet December!
Not sure how I forgot this in the alcove, here ya go! (Sorry Mr. Norris)

Chuck Norris once fought superman. The loser had to wear his underwear over his pants.

  2. Thought I would skate out fairly dry til Mary! Well played sir. Those hand releases are legit! We’ll have to do more!

  3. Better late than never!

  4. Sugar, I like working out in the rain for the exact same reasons you mentioned. I committed to doing a pre-run this morning and thought, am I going to be the only one to show? Two other men met me….20 minutes early…to run in the cold rain and THEN workout in the cold rain with three others. And I knew across F3 nation, there were many other men getting after it and getting stronger. Good to see people still had consistent numbers this am!
