Touchdown Beatdown – Sandman Edition

All All MECA Backblasts

October 20th, 2016 By Alcatraz

47 hours after @Sandman’s heart attack 40 men gathered in the gloom from multiple AOs as a show of support for our brother. It was great to see the cars keep rolling in and overflowing the normal parking lot. Shovel flag was planted, board signed, war paint applied by most (Hey @Bling should YHC bring moisturizer infused face paint next time? Would that be acceptable?), disclaimer given and the mosey began to…

WARMARAMA:

THE THANG:

A mock football field was marked off for the following 30 minute workout…

Bear Crawl endzone
10 Carolina Dry Docks
20 Squats
30 Merkins
40 Lunges (single leg)
50 LBC
40 Lunges (single leg)
30 Merkins
20 Squats
10 Carolina Dry Docks
Bear Crawl endzone
Run back to the other endzone repeato

There were some eager participants who evidently aren’t familiar with opening scream of Bodies by Drowning Pool or were just trying to cheat. YHC asked @Derby if that song took him back to his high school days and he corrected his elder by informing everyone it was elementary school  when that song dropped in 2001. #f3multigenerations

The lead group created some separation from the rest of the PAX at squats and never looked back. @ColMustard led the admonishment for proper form and the songs played on until the Hallelujah Chorus mercifully sounded the end of the workout.

Distances were recorded, picture taken and the PAX circled up for…

COT and BOM!

THE PIGSKIN MOLESKIN:

  1. Great work today men! Thank you for answering the call to support @Sandman with strong numbers. Continue to pray for him and his M, Lisa. He is scheduled to come home today.  Much love to the @Sandman!
  2. Welcome @Fledgling! Glad you showed up when those who EH’d you did not.
  3. Don’t miss any chance you have to let those you love know it. Feel free to hold each other accountable with a punch to the chest if they don’t follow through on the challenge. Verses quoted this morning were Proverbs 20:30 and Proverbs 23:13-14
  4. The football once again when home with @Thorn! The lead pack really pushed the pace. Results will be posted later today in a separate post.
  5. Thanks to the men who showed up from the various AOs. It’s nice to be part of something that reaches beyond our own little part of the world. Mornings like this prove we’ve found something that works on so many levels.
  6. Tclaps to @Google for calling the convergence and @Genie for bring the board to sign. Be prepared to visit @Genie in the hospital soon as he seems to have an issue with spraying himself with polyurethane.
  7. Only 39 names were on the list once I added those who left early. Sound off in the comments if you know the missing PAX. (Nice catch @Disaster!) Also, if your AO was left off the top of the post, do the same.

Always an honor to lead the PAX!

  1. Praying for a speedy recovery for you, @Sandman. Great to see so many guys out there this morning!

I will admit to being the aforementioned eager participant but I understood the instructions to be: start when you hear “floor”. I was unaware that the whisper didn’t count. Does this mean the sweet nothings Col Mustard whispers to me don’t count either?

    1. That is between you and the Colonel. And I hope I speak for all of F3 Nation when I say we don’t want to know the answer to your question. We are not that kind of men’s group!

  2. This was my first attendance of the legendary Touchdown Beatdown – impressive! But can we agree to not let it get to a “Touch”down Beatdown???

An honor to participate today! Always enjoy a convergence but it’s even more special when it’s for something like this. Not only showing support but thankfulness that our brother is ok and will one day return to the gloom with us!!

  3. Praying for you @sandman.

  4. It looks like @Gump is your missing PAX. Too funny. Could it be that he was too ashamed of his results to record his score? Or maybe he was just eager to get down there and sign that board.

Nice job as always @Alcatraz. Still one of my favorite beatdowns, even though I am so tired I can barely function at work today.

Get well soon @Sandman. We miss you!

  5. Seeing how this was a themed workout it sucked as all themed workouts by their very nature. However, I’m impressed with the effort you put in to make all this happen.

    Get well @sandman!
