Rudolph Training
All All MECA BackblastsOctober 12th, 2016
10 men came out to see where Rudolph will run on December 3rd. I ran it last year and thought I remembered the route, but they either changed it, or my memory just sucks. Fortunately my F3 brothers are prepared for 2 things, 1 is checking my routes the night before, 2 is just accepting my incompetence. From the 2nd thing is where the fun comes from! And I am glad you have all learnt to just roll with it!
9 men started out right on Mallard, a quick left onto Governor Hunt and a left about halfway down to find the start of Run Rudolph Run 5k.
Out of the parking lot and across to Claude Freeman, right onto Mallard Creek Church and right onto Senator Royal. Gentle Grizzly was so glad that he didn’t have to run back up SR, as we all were!! Right onto David Taylor and left onto Governor Hunt. So it is the second hill on Governor Hunt, not the first, where Rudolph turns around and heads back into that parking lot. We continued on up and back to the Valley.
4.2-5 miles were run this morning.
I had the pleasure of running and talking with many men this morning!
@Cardiac and I had fun being the 6. Keep coming out Cardiac, no more extended leave from F3 for you! Cardiac had one goal this morning, run the whole thing without stopping, and I believe he achieved that! Tclaps!!
@Triple Threat was in the zone this morning! He didn’t stop and just kept powering through! I was having a good chat with him up David Taylor until @ManDown yelled at me??!!
@Skipper was all over the place in typical Skipper style. Been awesome seeing a lot more of you lately brother!
@Trail Mix got my speed and heart rate up going down Mallard. We also solved all the political problems un the USA.
@Pleasure was there and did great! I don’t believe we spoke, but he was killing it! So cool that you have made Wednesday cruises part of your regular routine!
@Gentle Grizzly was loving life! Until his butt decided that mile 4 was a good time to take a poop……stopped him in his tracks!! Hope you made it home bro! FYI- GG crushed the Volition Half Marathon on Saturday with a sub 2 hour run!
@Man Down was there…..he criticized me multiple times…..either thats his “love language”, or he just wants to be me? 🙂
@Brutus was the overachiever of the morning! I believe he was the only one to run to and from the Valley! Way to go brother!! Exemplifies lead from the front!
@McFeely pulled a “McFeely this morning. A McFeely is when you arrive really late and then run the route in reverse until you find the pax. Good work out there brother!
Good work by all! Always enjoy running with you!
Run Rudolph Run 5k is on December 3rd! Sign up!

It was great getting back out. Been a struggle to get to bed early enough.
So my route ended up being 3.6 miles with 12:30 per mile average, which I am happy with not having done much running in recent times.
I actually saw you guys leaving the parking lot today (perhaps I could have blew my horn to make you aware, but decided if you guys didn’t see me, I would intercept as usual 🙂 ).
Thanks again for posting the route!
Also, you guys were great motivation at the end… I thought about taking 1 more 10 second walk, but when most turned back around and got behind the 6, couldn’t do it…. had to push through at that point!
Great job to all!
And Cardiac, awesome with achieving your goal!
@Dingo, what all days will practice for this be done on? I did the 4th of July one near @ManDown, might as well join in on this one. Gotta kick my butt back into some better running shape again though. Have rarely done over 2 miles since I more or less quit running after Dad’s death last year.
In my mind, I remember a guy who could run a 5 minute mile. And then I woke up in a flabby body with half a lung.
Dingo, you are a man of your words. That’s rare nowadays with our two presidential candidates. Thank you for hanging with me for the majority of the run. I know my slow speed probably cramped up your muscles a little. Thank you for the blessings brother!!
Rabbits all, thank you for looping back and checking the 6. I couldn’t give up when my brothers kept their promises to watch the six.
Mr. McFeely, great job pushing through at the end. At least you made it out of the fartsack, which is more than half the battle. Better late than never.
