No AO does darkness better than District 7
All All MECA BackblastsOctober 6th, 2016
Four PAX in the District for Exit’s return from sick child-induced hiatus…
WARM-UP:
- Mosey across the street to the Reedy Creek neighborhood, mosey to the clubhouse, turn around and mosey back
- Pick up Gridiron at the usual time/location and… wait, there’s Thickburger’s car as well… pick up Gridiron and Thickburger and mosey on to the Abyss
THE THANG:
- The Abyss Walk – on your hands and feet, straddle the Abyss and walk to the center, pausing after every four ‘steps’ to do a merken
- REPEATO, but do a merken after every two steps
- Footwork drills on the blacktop – following the diagonal lines, run forward, side shuffle, backpedal down and back the blacktop
- Back at the Abyss – handwalk (with feet on the bench) once around the perimeter, Abyss Jihadis on a 6-count, then Abyss Merkens on a 4-count
- Mosey to the Spooky Half – Indian Run down and back with trailing runner doing five burpees before he sprints to the front
- Back at the Abyss – do the Abyss walk to the middle, with a merken after every two steps
- Mosey to Mary
MARY:
- LBCs x 20 (IC)
MOLESKIN:
Beautiful morning in the District – the weather is getting cooler and darker, and that means the AO’s getting spookier. Thickburger experienced this firsthand when he and Gridiron were looking for the Q, and he got stuck searching the Spooky Half alone. Always remember the first and most important rule of horror flicks, Thick.
Your Q has been absent for the better part of six weeks, due to some sick children who refuse to sleep for more than 60-90 minutes at a time. But I’m happy to report things are getting a little better on that front and I hope to get back to my regular attendance on Boondocks Thursdays. Hopefully I can get on some of the other PAX’s cases who haven’t posted recently.
As for the actual workout, this one was completely off the cuff – which usually means you’re getting several trips to the Abyss and at least one down and back on the Spooky Half. Deuce and I have been running too much over the summer, so it’s time to get back to the basics and re-build that upper body strength.
As always, thanks for opportunity to lead.

Thanks for picking up the Q this morning, Exit 54. It was a tough one. I know my arms definitely lost some strength with all the running we’ve been doing instead, and Abbyss Jihadi Merkins are no joke!
