PREBLAST – You vs You – Timed Mile
All All MECA BackblastsOctober 2nd, 2016
When was the last time you ran one mile for time… maybe back in high school?? Are you up for a challenge? Short and simple, this will be an 8 week training program to improve your speed and stamina with the goal of running your fastest mile ever.
When: Baseline mile timing will be Thursday Oct 6th at 5 a.m. (from this you can set your goal time). The first program workout will be Tuesday Oct 11th at 5 a.m. Tuesday and Thursday workouts will be prior to boot camp workouts at 5 a.m. Saturday workouts will start at 6 a.m. All other workouts will be on your own.
Where: All Tuesday and Thursday program workouts will take place at the Hickory Ridge Middle School track or at the Hickory Ridge High School parking lot (or surrounding complex). Saturday runs will launch from Harrisburg Park (hint: it will look a lot like the Bull Run).
What: #Disclaimer – I’m not a professional (nor a “runner”). I’m not even that creative… just google “run a faster mile” and click on the third listing. It’s okay if the info is under ‘womensrunning’. I know a ton of women faster than all of us… my wife included. Plus, look how the program schedule fits so nicely into the F3 Harrisburg workout schedule.
We’ll primarily follow the ‘intermediate’ program listed here: http://womensrunning.competitor.com/2014/10/training-tips/training-plans-run-fastest-mile-ever_31511/2
Why: Because we all need challenges. I’ve never run a sub-six minute mile. This will be my attempt to do so. HC below and challenge yourself. How low can you go?

I have no idea what time I’ll run on Thursday as a baseline, but my personal goal at the end is sub-six.
Sounds good. I’m in.
