Where Taper does not mean Taper
All All MECA BackblastsAugust 31st, 2016
BRR is less than 2 weeks away. We have been told to taper. We have been instructed on the taper. We have learnt the reasoning for the taper. We have read an article on the taper.
Apparently none of has sunk in.
@Landlord decided that this was the morning he is going to take the Tradition mile crown. @Farm is about to have a heart attack! @ManDown was running up and down SRR like it was race day on Monday. @Farm may die soon.
So here is my final plea. Gents…..the race is a mere 8 days away. If you want The Farm to make it to race day without having a heart attack…….taper…..please taper. In all seriousness, we have 12 somewhat healthy guys right now, lets not risk that so close to the big dance.
We ran a simple flat route today. Although when I told Funky the route, he said “That’s not flat! there is a big hill at the beginning”. I responded as such “Dude, there are no more big hills around here, we have flattened all of them”. Whilst this may sound boastful, it is also truth. Our training has paid off. There a hills that I used to DREAD running up, but now I don’t even notice them. As much as I’ve hated all this hill running, I can definitely feel the benefits. And watching you guys crush them week in and week out, I know that you feel it also.
Speaking of Funky……He was certain there would be bacon there today. And he should have been certain, you see a certain large piece of bacon HC’ed to running today……But as Funky’s eyes got bigger from fear of running with 6 rabbits and a hybrid, we all realized there would be no bacon this morning. All good Funky, we got you!
Mileage from 4-5 miles was achieved. Urlacher finally discovered that there is a Wednesday cruise and was so happy about it that he actually sweat a medal around his neck. Seriously, I cant make this shit up!
Great runs by all this morning. I think we all enjoyed the flatness and the shorter distance.

Im going to miss that crown.. Got three updates today that it was gone, but I guarantee it wont be gone for long.. #hatehatehate
Don’t you worry about me. Just don’t plan a route for Saturday that has any Strava segments. I might not be able to resist the temptation.
Solution: everyone can taper with us, except landlord. Landlord will have to run on a treadmill to resist temptations
The ‘Tradition Mile Crown’ is a segment competition on Strava?
Yes. Technically, the Tradition Mile is not quite a mile: more like a Jelly mile. You can find it on strava, but you may not take my crown.
