Stars, Little Dippers, People’s Q and an FNG
All All MECA BackblastsAugust 31st, 2016
7 men showed up in a mysterious location (parking in the lower lot? I thought it was going to end up being Maximus and me only when I first pulled in) this morning to lead themselves in a workout in a brave new world where Shawshank would count stars and Maximus would see little dippers next to him.
Sensei took charge of directing us in a warm up, then started off the circle of PAX exercises. We grabbed our blocks of cinder for things such as:
CB Curls, CB swings, sumo squats, prisoner squats, shoulder presses, standing chest presses, CB steering wheels, behind the neck shoulder press, triCEPT extenIONs (I will never forget this apparently), lat pullovers, chest presses, lawn mower pulls, lunges with twist, CB burpees (ugh), merkin matrix (5 alternating merkins each side, cb merkins, and cb derkins), LBCs (without CB) and probably some more I’m forgetting.
Near the end Sensei decided our hearts were going TOO SLOW so it was time to do 2 sprints across the parking lot. Then back to some more curls. Major visited us early in the morning and there were comments about this thin, svelt new man who seemed to have shrank from his previous Hulk-like state. He then was worried that getting some @Sugar might make his wife bring out the frying pan weapon when he got home so he ran off to continue his journey of training for _____? I think the many sets of curls were meant to pay homage to Major, but also in fear of soccer arms with all this running that has been going on lately.
Then the finish with MARY! We did the following: pretzel crunch/stick, Rosalita, low dolly, touch toes, low flutter, the squirm, and finished off with the always loved crunchy frog. The theme of the morning was 20, until many got too worried and started doing less. I kept everything totaling up to 20, but I’m not sure if we could’ve finished on 20 crunchy frogs so instead it was 15 🙁
Moleskin:
Welcome to a new FNG, named Blender! We almost named him Mango, but he said something like: “Yeah that sounds good, I’ll take that.” So then someone made us change it and now he’s Blender. He brought in a few new ones for us that were nice to add to the CB repertoire such as a slightly modified standing chest press, the steering wheel, and the rarely done at Tradition Behind the Neck Shoulder Press.
Sounds like he’ll be at Boot Camp tomorrow so all you 40s and Respects get ready to welcome / hate hate him (he’s 22 years old, you old guys).
HDHH tonight for the Meca Region at Carolina Ale House for anyone who is interested.
Thanks for closing us out in prayer, Shawshank.
Also make sure to come to @MadHatter’s Virgin Q on Friday! And with that announcement… surely Buckwheat will show up, stand next to me, and shout “WHERE IS KING LOUIE AT?!”
Did everyone park in the lower parking lot to make Maximus walk extra far to his car at the end?

Sound off below!
Enjoyed working out with some fresh faces this morning! I must admit, I’m a bit jealous of your coupon pile you got there!! I think we hit some muscles I haven’t used in a while!
Take good care of @Blender and by that I mean don’t take it easy on him. A man that young deserves it! Seriously he’s a good guy and hopefully will find a home there at Tradition.
So I see you’re saying give him that 50lb kettlebell we have in the box for Monday/Friday….
More work in fewer reps? Makes sense to me!
Fewer reps? I’m not sure about that one 🙂
We can give Triple Threat his 30lb bell back and let him lead one. “Come on guys it’s only 575 curls total! It isn’t that hard!”
Thx for stepping up to lead @sensei. Nice write-up @kinglouie.
@sensei was a beast – sets of 20 reps and then surprise sprints and he was moving! I guess when you Q you amp up!!
Good fun workout!
