Seventeen men came together on this comfortable morning to take on SRR. Some got there early and started before the majority of us, some got there right on time, and at least one pulled in as we took off. YHC was closely followed by buckwheat into the parking lot. After a few of us pushed him to do it, buckwheat finally committed. We walked up to the group and immediately saw Dingo with his bright yellow F3 shirt and bright yellow running vest. He made it clear that wouldn’t stay on the entire time and sure enough, the dude stripped after one lap. 5:30 came and we were off.

This route is pretty easy. Start at the top of Senator Royal, run 0.9 miles to the bottom, turn around, 0.9 miles back to the top. That’s one. Rinse and repeat until time is up. Several of the BRR guys chose to do two full laps and then run to the intersection of W. Mallard Creek and Mallard Creek and back. Good practice for the BRR. Brutus even ran about 2 miles to the start because one of his three legs is similar to that. Good thinking brother. As for YHC, I had a goal of getting three laps in again like last week. Although I didn’t get a full three in, I felt better than I have in months.

Several thoughts kept going through my head on this run today. I ran with Farm for the first lap. Thanks brother for the push. I felt strong and just kept on going. We joined Trail Mix as we finished the first lap and stayed together until we hit TIAA on the way back up in the second lap. Even though I slowly fell behind on the second lap, it still felt good to see those guys the entire way. Looking up every now and then helped me continue moving up that hill. I actually ended up running some of the fastest times for me in months.

I used up a lot of energy on the first two laps and felt it, but after Man Down picked me up last week (because I was the 6), I knew I needed to go back down and find Buckwheat and Dunphy. Those two were powering up that hill about half way down. I made sure to finish with them. And those two finished strong. I was fine with just finishing, but Buckwheat and Dunphy wanted to finish fast. Thanks for the extra push at the end guys. Afterwards I heard Buckwheat say that he only wanted to run one lap and then run to intersection of W. Mallard Creek and Mallard Creek and back. But Dunphy wasn’t having it. Good work making Buckwheat do it again.

Nice work by everyone this morning. SRR is no joke and we are stronger for doing it. It sucks when running it, but I always feel better once I’m done.

  1. Nice push by everyone this morning. Sound off below.

  2. FYI: Brutus then joined SWAT right at the last Mary exercise.

    1. Brutus is not human.

      1. I agree with that assessment.

  3. Thanks for writing up the BB Jelly. So glad to be done with SRR…at least for awhile!

    1. I’m certain you’ll be back. I may do another one in a few weeks to continue to prep for the Spartan race on September 25th. Of course, I would have to drag Dingo, Farm, and Buckwheat out there.

  4. I think you all aren’t human. My legs were so tired after running 10 on saturday…….I don’t know how you all do it.

I’d like to keep doing this once or twice a month. Its definitely made us all stronger runners, along with Chickenfoot, Devils Pitchfork, Muthaship, etc. Monday will remain a run day for me for a while.

    1. Monday will also be a run day for me and I like the idea of doing something hilly on Mondays.
