Strava #SegmentBagging Wrecked my Pacing
All All MECA BackblastsJuly 13th, 2016
13 Highlanders posted on July 13th for hill repeats on a hill that used to be bigger. Don’t you all agree that the hill is getting flatter? Must be some tectonic plate thing going on or something.
The Thang:
- Millstream Repeats. Nuff said.
The Naked Moleskin:
- YHC showed up at 5:29:30 and saw the pax heading out of the parking lot. Wha?! After later catching up the pax and interrogating them on the way by they eventually sold out @Filibuster as the nervous nellie who wanted to get started so he could get finished. Not like he was going to be surprised by anything on this, his 4th running of the MSR in 5 days….
- Google and YHC had the same idea at the same time….to hit the hill up to the traffic circle hard and see if we could improve our standings on the leaderboard. We did but that darn @Google edged me by 1 lousy second. Not sure how the rest of Google’s run was but that “sprint” up the hill made the rest of my run just plain awful. The importance of pacing once again is evident. Turns out Strava #SegmentBagging and pacing are at odds.
- Had a surprise drop-in from Frodo this morning. He showed up dressed for work right as we were starting COT. He said something about how since his half ironman was completed he has no interest in waking up early to run. Come on! Join us!
- Someone had told me they thought @Eggnog was on the cusp of saying yes to being an alternate for the BRR. That intel was incorrect.
- Had a great recap of last night’s #Shield from @Skipper and some others that had made it. Sounds like guest speaker @Kevorkian delivered the goods.

It was a good one today. Who needs flat roads?
Thanks @TheNanny for chronicling our #Cruise once more. I believe that what @Frodo did at COT was called #GumpingCOT
