New Route Confusion…….

All All MECA Backblasts

June 29th, 2016 By Dingo

10 men showed up today for a 4 mile + cruise. 10 men…..but only 3 BRR runners. Its gonna be interesting up on the Blue Ridge in a couple months.

New Route

Right onto Mallard Creek
Right onto Ben Craig
Left on to William Fickle
Right onto Cliff Cameron
Right onto Clare Olivia
Right onto Greenway
Left at Bridge
Exit at Collard park
Right onto Mallard
End at School

If you ran it straight you should have got around 4 miles. Faster rabbits got 5.4miles

The Moleskin;

It started out well. 10 men exited The Valley. Spirits were high, the weather was perfect, the men were strong. We cruised down Mallard like antelope cruising across the plains. It was a sight that many were lucky to see. Seems a walking group decided that Mallard was a good place to walk this morning. Its a good thing these 10 gazelles were able dodge and dart between the slow old walking bears.

We disembarked from Mallard on to the smaller routes enroute to the Gway, a preferred destination of the elusive rabbit. The 6 was picked up after a mile, all men were accounted for. Or so we thought. As we got to the way entrance, YHC realized that this route is a little confusing and I have lost a man before, so I set the rabbits free and went back for the 6. Problem is……I could not find the 6. After about 5 minutes of searching I abandoned the search. You see, even though I am a dingo by name, the naming ceremony did not provide me with any of my fellow canines smelling talents. As stinky as R2 is, I could not find him. I was comforted by knowing that R2, McFeely and Dr Seuss were all together. Safety in numbers. Gazelle philosophy.

So I entered the Gway and realized 2 things immediately. 1 – I’m not a rabbit. 2 – I will never catch the rabbits. So I set of at a fashionably fast pace for a short, fat dingo. I was enjoying the loneliness and that this section was slightly down hill. I held on to the faint hope that a friendly rabbit would appear and I would be alone no longer. Not only did I see a rabbit, but I saw 2 rabbits! The 3 of us eventually caught another rabbit and finally the rest of the rabbits.

We finished 7 strong. But where to find the other seekers of pavement? We found R2 hobbling back up mallard. Guess those Goodwill shoes aren’t working out? A quick phone call to McFeely put his position at the Collard park entrance. A huge guilt trip was delivered by Gentle Grizzly and 3 of us went and found the 6 and brought them home safely.

It ended in sweat.

  1. It was a good run this morning.

Cardiac seems to be building up his endurance quickly. And Rocker per what I heard found some hidden energy for a last push.

This was Dr Seuss’s first time back in about a month and did well, though he was grumbling about should’ve done a bootcamp instead on his first day back :-). He did well!

As for the bears, I think some of them were running, but be careful and hope those mamma bears don’t read your post. 🙂 Very impressive to see that group out also… see a bunch of ladies from the Y on Wednesday’s on Mallard Creek Rd and I have no idead where from on Monday’s on Prosperity Ch Rd.

    1. Yeah, it’s cool to see all the people in our area out early getting in their exercise

    2. Monday’s they are coming from RFYL. I think they run every M,W,F. Interestingly they run the exact same route every time

  2. @Dingo you are a talented writer!! I laughed so hard almost peed.

Two of those bears asked Rocker and I if they could ride on our backs. As the days when ladies wanted to ride my back are long past, We claimed age and senility.

    1. Lol! I’m glad someone enjoys my humor 😉

  3. @Rocker – great push up the hill at the end
@Cardiac – way to keep on keepin on
