You get two options: More work… or more work #ElDorado
All All MECA BackblastsMay 23rd, 2016
Nineteen PAX for week 2 of the El Dorado reboot, temps around 60 degrees. Excellent turnout and ideal conditions for MECA’s big boy workout…
- Run to the North Deck and partner up with someone of similar fitness level
- Beginning at the bottom of Stairway to Heaven – run up two flights, turn around and run down one flight. Run up two more flights, turn around and run down one. Keep going up two / down one until you reach the top.
- 30 bench dips at the top
- Run across the top level, enter the mine shaft, run the stairs to the bottom of the deck
- At the bottom of the deck, Partner 1 drops down and does 5 burpees, Partner 2 begins backpedaling up the main ramp. When Partner 1 finishes his burpees, he sprints to catch up with Partner 2. When he catches him, he goes into a backpedal while Partner 2 drops down for 5 burpees (then he sprints to catch up)
- Keep alternating until you reach the top of the deck
- 20 hand-release merkens at the top
- Enter the mine shaft, run the stairs to the bottom of the deck
- At the bottom of Stairway to Heaven, 40 single count LBCs
- REPEATO until time is called
Thanks to the nineteen men who made it out for my first El Dorado Q – and special thanks to the seven of you who made the trek from Concord (about a 60 minute round trip to get to the launch site). Flyboy and I did 4.36 miles according to my watch. Minnow and Clueless were probably over 5. I expected the up-and-down on Stairway to be the real killer today but it was actually pretty tame compared to the alternating backpedal and burpees circuit we did on the main ramps. Can’t say enough how perfect the weather was this morning. I’ll be missing these temps in a week or two.
Regarding announcements – everyone remember the Bear is coming up a week from Saturday. 6am launch from Race City. Also we need Q’s for El Dorado. Pick a Monday and Colonel Mustard can send you the sign-up link. Next Monday is the Murph, but I believe the following Monday (6/6) is open.
Finally, please continue to keep our brother Olive and his family in your prayers.

Nice lead @Exit 54. That may honestly be the hardest workout I have attempted since I joined F3. I am completely done today. I will file El Dorado under my growing list of “Things that I don’t like to do”
I must have missed the “similar fitness level” portion of the disclaimer when I grabbed @Google as a partner today. Thanks for pushing me today brother. Thanks to @Nanny for taking over for me when I hit the wall around 6PM. And to @Cupid for pushing me through that last lap. Well done.
Is it me or was it really dusty inside the parking deck? I’ve been coughing all morning. Or maybe I’m just getting old.
Appreciate you posting, Disaster. While El Dorado never gets (remotely) easy, it does get easier.
Sorry, I didn’t mean for that to sound like I’d never be back. I just meant that I’m done for the day. As in completely exhausted! It was a very welcome challenge, and a nice change of pace from the ordinary weekly beat downs.
I follow you, not feeling too energized myself this afternoon. ElDo always wrecks me for the better part of a Monday, but then I’m psyched for it again by Sunday evening. Last two workouts have really been fun, hoping we can keep bringing in the numbers.
@Exit54 – Nice Q! And great use of all things painful at #NorthDeck
As you mentioned, temp couldn’t have been more perfect with a nice sunrise at the top of the deck. #anotherbenefitofodarkthirtyworkout
@ColonelMustard – Thanks for pushing me today. We both be improvin!
@DogCatcher (Kotter) – T-Claps for posting today! Goes to show the power of a personal invite.
@Pax – Reach out to those #hibernaters that u haven’t seen in awhile! #itmatters
#ahoy
@Exit54 – That was horrible for me. Everything was good until I hit the ramps and then the #suck set in for my quads. Brutal for sure!
@Skipper – I was your anchor this morning but thanks for the push brother. It has been a while since we have partnered up, not a lot of chatter coming from me but the small talk helped me through.
Not sure who partnered with @Minnow this morning but we saw you guys on the initial climb up #StairwaytoHeaven and then that was it. And I am glad I didn’t see you guys on my six.
Great numbers this morning and thanks to the men of @Concord for coming out. We still have yet to see the men of @Isotope come out but I hear there are coming soon.
Thanks for the lead #Exit54! Nothing easy about that one. I never look forward to running, but was so looking forward to the mile back… meant no more of the burpee/sprint/back-pedal.
I think @SSMinnow missed the part about “similar fitness levels” too. Appreciated the push partner!
Great to see some unfamiliar out this morning. Way to push it fellas…
Well that was equal opportunity torment for upper body, lower body and cardio, Exit
Thanks for helping me get through it, Clueless
It is great to mix it up with the NO29 Pax again!
