Cinderblocks & Relays
All All MECA BackblastsMay 12th, 2016
9 of MeCa’s finest dove head first into the day and posted at #Tradition for a fun-filled morning. Pavarotti couldn’t remember what a bootcamp with less than 20 Pax was like, so he decided to join in the fun as well. Half-hearted disclaimer was given, and we were off for the following:
Mosey to Warm-o-rama for SSH / Windmill / IST / Carolina Dry Docks / Low Slow Squat / Low Slow Mericans
Partner up, grab a cinderblock (CB), and mosey to the new slab of asphalt
(R.I.P. Outback. You were good to us for many months in the gloom. Always a faithful friend, and provider of pain. You are missed more than you know…..)
As a team, knock out 200 CB Squats. One partner does the squats, while the other lunge walks up the incline, and sprints back. Switch out until you hit 200.
As a team, knock out 200 CB Shoulder Presses. One partner does the presses, while the other Apollo Ono’s up the incline, and sprints back. Switch out until you hit 200.
Give the CBs a rest, and wheelbarrow up the incline, perform 10 partner derkins each, then wheelbarrow back down. Repeato with Crawl Bears up the hill, 10 partner derkins each, and bear crawls down the hill.
Mosey the CBs back to the pile, and line up for a 1-mile partner relay. Each partner alternates running a lap around the islands while the other partner recovers. 10 laps total, with the goal being a 7-minute mile.
The Pax were notified that if any team went over 7 minutes, the entire Pax would be penalized with 1 burpee for each second past the goal (i.e., if the last team came in at 7:22, the Pax would do 22 burpees). I’m happy to report that this was a burpee-free morning – way to go Tradition!
Circle up for some quick Mary (low Flutters, varied speeds), and close out with COT & BOM.
Moleskin:
• Funky Bunch was not born to be a speed skater
• Definitely some jelly-lubing going on with the crawl bears and wheelbarrows. Fortunately for the Pax, too many instances to call anyone out in particular…
• Jelly & Pavarotti were a loaded team on the partner relay (5:40, I believe it was?)
• It’s amazing the incentive that burpees will provide to run faster. You guys were booking it – good effort all around.
• Stretch out those hammies and glutes today, or you may be hurting tomorrow…
Announcements:
• Tradition on Tap TONIGHT: 7pm, Carolina Ale House. Be there!
• Book study featuring special guests, OBT & Dredd. Tomorrow (Friday) morning, 6am @Caffecinos
• Ribshack has an opening for an Admin / Data Entry role, if you know anyone. Full-time work, down in Matthews.
AYE!

Nice work this morning, PAX. Great to see Pavarotti & Innkeeper, been too long.
I enjoyed it this morning. The relay was actually fun. Thanks for partnering up Pavarotti.
I forgot how good that AO is even without the Outback. I’ll have to visit again soon. Thx for the welcome and great lead, Trail Mix.
@Jelly – Great partnering up. Just think if you didn’t have hurt foot.
Nice beatdown. Trail Mix – you are in shape and you can run! Glad you and ONJ were on my team! – to keep up with the others. The 7 minute mile challenge had me moving as fast as I could go – and feel good after. Nice job!
