It was cold…..50degrees cold……which 2 months ago would’ve been hot! But thats Carolina living for ya. I embraced the cold and put on a thicker t-shirt than i’d normally wear. Gotta admit it was a perfect choice for a perfect morning. I took advantage the contract clause attached to the Saturday morning Cruise. Such clause allows the Q to pick any start point. So far it has only been the outrageously crazy Q, Trail Mix, who has taken advantage of this clause and who better footsteps to follow in than the mad man from The Precinct. I chose the Winchester Neighborhood pool parking lot as our getaway location of the week. No extra trip fee was charged and a full breakfast was provided.

YHC was the first to arrive so I could lower the chain of impediment. Gentle Grizzly had actually requested in advance that the chain be lowered…..he then proceeded to run to the starting point via the greenway and would not have been impeded at all?? Anywho……As I said, I was the first to arrive, closely followed by Forgotten Jelly and Blinddate, who mistakenly took on my 8000lumens with their pitiful Honda…..lets just say I won that battle and the honda had its tail pipe between its legs upon retreat. We chatted for a bit about the aerodynamics of a hotdog and other such important things, then we wondered if anyone else was gonna show? Well show and show they did! 16 strong role into Winchester, guns blazing, ready to take on all that YHC had to offer. We even had a Funky Bunch showing. His presence was immediately noted by the lack of Buckwheats presence who apparently called him out last night. Thankfully Buckwheat showed and the world was good again…..or so we thought……

3 routes – 1 x 4 mile, 1 x 5 mile, 1 x 6 mile.

right on the greenway to the end(1 mile) and back to pool(2 mile). Then head down the greenway to one of 3 turnaround points that YHC had determined to give you the desired mileage.

I don’t remember us ever having 16 men at a Tradition Cruise? But all I can say is that it was like running with a bunch of wild stallions with headlamps on their heads! Well….one had his headlamp on his fanny pack…..but i digress……

It was pretty darn cool to see that many men out there. I think about 5 did 4 miles, a few did 5 miles, but a majority knocked out 6.2 miles or more.

The Moleskin;

1. Jumanji is not human.
2. Ajax does not like distances over 4 miles. Have we finally found his achilles heal??
3. Cinderblock runs a 10min mile on the dot every single mile. No stopping this man.
4. Mr Belding graced us with his presence. Not sure what he was doing as I couldn’t keep up!
5. Coyote had to bail early, new shoe-itis.
6. Hot Wheels is a running machine!
7. Skipper was in 2ndF mode today and he was all over the group, chatting up everyone in true Skipper style.
8. The Farm has obtained beast status. Unless there is an owl…..there was an owl.
9. Jelly’s foot held up nicely.
10. Blinddate disappeared? We are hoping he was with Jelly?
11. Gentle grizzly blamed my lack of a disclaimer for him kissing the pavement in glorious fashion.
12. Trail mix tried to keep up with Jumanji and came off the worse for it. He graciously accepted my offer of 10 min pace.
13. Funky Bunch made his return and did way better than I was expecting!
14. BuckWheat may be the reason our cruise numbers are up! Dude is an inspiration!
15. Man Down had this crazy idea of doing fartleks?? That lasted a little while.
16. YHC was a freaking beast out there!! 5 min miles all morning!! Then I woke up and went to the cruise……
