Mother…Mutha

All All MECA Backblasts

April 3rd, 2016 By Marv

7 men of purpose got up and out on this soggy morning.  While Mother Nature couldn’t make up her mind (rain, cloudy, sunny, pouring), our Muthaship welcomed this Motley Crue to her loving embrace for a not-so nice beatdown.

The Thang:
Mosey up MLK pass Nascar Hall of Fame
Stopping twice for 2 sets of dips 15 IC, and Derkins 15 IC.
On last stop add in 15 IC pistol squats; flapjack.
Mosey to TWC arena: quick stop for knee-ups, planking, plank march, and merkins.
Mosey to Mutha:
1st round: Mutha Suicides, 5 merkins at base then run to levels 2,4,6,8,10,& top stopping for merkins at the base.  LBC’s, merkins, then mosey to collect the 6.
2nd round: Stair work.  Mosey down to level 7 to start.  The Start: 1 person sprints to base and back up ( Remaining Pax does exercises in cadence waiting for the person to return).  2nd round 2 people go (rest of PAX exercises), 3rd round 3 go, 4th round Q goes.   Exercises included, Merkins, lbc’s, oblique lbcs, knee ups, merkins, peter parkers, and more core exercises.
Last round: Mosey to base of Mutha, head to ramp.  7’s on the 1st level ramp.  Sumo Jump Squats at top, Burpees at the bottom.  Backward run up the ramp… When leaders finished, picked up PAX and any undone exercises were done as a group.
Mosey back to AO stopping for derkins, dips, more core work, quick curb to curb (only to 5), end with chain-link dips at the AO.

NMM:
Always nice to have visitors to the Jungle.  Fa-So-La emailed out that a Q was needed, and before YHC could even respond, Firestone had already tweeted out that he would be joining and bringing guests. Glad to have Junk and Firestone come down; though not so sure they enjoyed the scenic route.  Welcome FNG Pom-Pom, who Firestone brought all the way from Ohio.  Between the cold winters, and his job as an officer, definitely not a future PAX member to be trifled with.  Hope you three fellows enjoyed Metro Run club…I promise you’ll get faster.
By the way 20/20 and Post just keep getting faster.  Both were up front all morning and crushed the Spiral Suicides: Must be all the Ritchie Runs, and Sweet 6’s.
Speaking of the Mutha, crowded morning at the Ship.  Must be because its the hottest tourist destination, or simply a good place to keep warm but the Jungle Crew ran into workouts from Indy, Fia and Hilary/Bunny’s stair race training regiment.  Stairs were a popular commodity, but due to quick thinking, and some o the fly changes no group was impeded.  (At least that YHC believes.  Even with the occasional comments of “why don’t we have music like Fia”  we all pushed through and got the job done).

Lots of races forthcoming, so sign up, post and hit your PR’s.  It’s hard to PR if not showing up.  Speaking of that, while it was great to have 7, only 4 were from the Metro area.  What’s the deal?  When 1/2 of the participants are from other regions…  shameless plug, Jungle offers a ton of different elements, that no other AO’s can.  Hill work, check, pull-ups we got that, the wave and 24th street check… so sign up, speak with Fa-So-La and sign up.

  1. Jungle Fitness test this Saturday. I will buy coffee for anyone who beats me in the mile. At coffee, I will ask them what they’re doing Sept 9-10
