Distance Goes Off Road

All All MECA Backblasts

March 20th, 2016 By The Nanny

5 pax got dirty this morning at the first ever off road excursion for #TheDistance.  It went something like this:

The Thang:

  1. Meet in parking lot of Bradford Prep Charter School.  Nanny and Chowder lead a tour de Bear Crawl on the 1.5 mile course that they helped build about a year ago.
  2. Then hit the roads across the street in a hood and get in another 4 ish miles.
  3. Then back to BPS for another hot lap in the woods.

The Naked Moleskin:

  1. Well it wasn’t warm this morning; a brisk 43 degrees.
  2. Nanny showed up with all the toys; new Solomon Speedcross 3 shoes, BD Spot Head Lamp, and a Klarus tactical light to bring daytime to the nighttime.
  3. Turns our running on trails is a lot harder than the road.  Huh, who knew.  Avalanche’s trick knee started acting up, Bling fell in a hole and almost twisted his ankle, and Nanny almost twisted an angle on seemingly flat ground.  Trail running requires LASER focus on the terrain.  This training was key and will be key each week leading to Time Laps.  The body aches and twinges in all new locations – like starting running again all over.
