Do The Right Thing
All All MECA BackblastsJanuary 18th, 2016
14 gamblers came out to SWAT to throw down some cards and lift some kettlebells. After Coyote helped direct R2D2 toward the AO he was actually supposed to be Qing, we took a warm-up jog around the parking lot, did a few warmorama exercises, and then we stepped up to the dealer’s table as the pain cards were dealt. Here’s how it went down…
- Numbered Cards (we did 54 total of each):
- Diamonds = Swings
- Hearts = Rows (bent-over initially, then audible called to uprights instead)
- Clubs = Triceps Extensions
- Spades = Squats
- Face Cards (we did 80 of each…240 curls total):
- Jacks = 20 Curls
- Queens = 20 Reverse-grip Curls
- Kings = 20 Outhouse Curls
- Aces:
- Sprint the warm-up loop
- Jokers (we did 60 total):
- 30 Curls
Dealer’s Moleskin:
- Strong work today, men! 300 curls is no joke! Thanks for joining me out there.
- Men’s Breakfast at StoneBridge this coming Saturday. Sign up HERE.
- I titled this backblast “Do The Right Thing” to highlight a quote by Martin Luther King, Jr. that I had intended to share with you all this morning on MLK Day, but then forgot. I came across it last week and then our pastor shared it again yesterday. It is a VERY appropriate and timely call to us…to YOU if you’ll hear it:
“Cowardice asks the question, is it safe?
Expediency asks the question, is it politic?
Vanity asks the question, is it popular?
But, conscience asks the question, is it right? And there comes a time when we must take a position that is neither safe, nor politic, nor popular, but one must take it because it is right.”

– @R2D2, I hope you made it to The Valley in time for your Q.
– @Desperado, welcome back brother!
– @Pleather, thanks for joining us from Chapel Hill (not that you had much of a choice with Maximus as your dad-in-law!)
Great lead Man Down, me and my biceps enjoyed it!!
Great workout today @ManDown. Loved the creativity.
Great beatdown Man Down! Thank you for welcoming Pleather and helping with curl count. You were definitely prepared and organized! But the part I may have liked the best is that quote! I am going to print it out – reread it – to help make it more part of my subconscious.
