Isn’t There a Workout Somewhere Else on Mondays?
All All MECA BackblastsNovember 23rd, 2015
The Twitter and text machines were rolling last night which resulted in one of our biggest crowds yet at The Valley. Gamma made an appearance all the way from Harrisburg, as did the @F3Ghost Flag courtesy of @Innkeeper. It was a cold morning starting off at 29 degrees and was definitely colder down at the bottom of the Hill of Shadows. As usual, @Dingo thinks he’s manly and shows up with no gloves despite buying some this past Friday. Blames it on having six kids and not being able to find them. Six kids, is that all you’ve got???
Ghost Flag planted. Gentile Grizzly proclaims he’s back from the dead and thinking about creating a shovel flag for his wonderful AO. Bout time!
Let’s get to work. Short mosey around a portion of the bus lot with a weak disclaimer thrown in since no FNG’s were present. Things went a little something like this.
COP/Warm Up:
SSH X15IC
5 Burpees
Windmill X10IC
Cotton Picker X10IC
5 Burpees
Enter FNG Ryan Thomas, a/k/a Bazinga, sans gloves. Better late than never. Welcome, brother. Way to EH @Dingo and make sure he’s prepared for the cold. Don’t worry @Dingo, YHC had a good discussion with him after the beatdown regarding proper F3 winter attire. He’ll be prepared tomorrow!
The Thang:
Run to bottom of The Hill of Shadows. When we stopped, @The Farm sensed the suck coming. Since only @The Farm and I showed for this last time, I figured I’d share the suck with everyone else. Here’s what we did.
At the bottom of the hill: 10 Mericans, 10 Air Squats, 10 Carolina Dry Docks, and 10 Bobby Hurleys. Run back to the top of The Hill of Shadows for 10 LBC’s, 10 pretzel crunch each side, 10 W’s, and 10 Squirms. Rinse and Repeat while adding two reps to each exercise at both the bottom and top of the hill. The second time up, after blowing his wad sprinting the first time, @Dingo asks isn’t there a workout somewhere else on Mondays? Yup, too bad you chose The Valley today. We ended up doing a total of four trips down/up the hill and finishing at 16 reps of each exercise at the top.
Inspired by @Skipper’s special teams beatdown, YHC broke out my trusty Bills football in honor of the beatdown they’re going to put on the Patriots tonight and we played a little Punt, Pass & Kick. Pax Choice. We learned that @Forgotten Jelly can’t kick and Aussies suck too, but Grizzly’s can throw and the Irishman can kick the hell out of the ball. One person punts, passes, or kicks and everyone sprints to the ball. First person there calls out and exercise. Ribshack- 5 burpess, Grizzly- 10 monkey humpers, Gamma-10 Pickle Pounders, Guiness- So excited to kick the ball gets original and imposes another 5 burpees. We did one more here, but I can’t remember what it was.
Circle up for Mary, err audible to plank rail walks up the trailer ramp. @Dingo has to suffer through it with no gloves. Bazinga gets a pass and is allowed to bear crawl up instead.
Quick MARY:
Plank Jack X15IC
Low Flutter X10IC
Low Dolly X10IC
Cold Moleskin:
1) Great to see a large group at The Valley today. Thanks for joining us!
2) That hill sucks. Really sucks. Even moreso in the cold.
3) Guinness & Ribshack- You guys were KILLING it today!
4) @Forgotten Jelly- The pax is claiming that there was some Jelly Lubing going on today…
5) Welcome Bazinga. Way to push yourself. Keep coming back, the workouts won’t get easier, but you WILL get stronger!
6) @Gamma- Great to see you as always.
7) Had fun today, men. Hope you did too!

Nice work this morning gents. Welcome to @bazinga. Glad you’re part of this.
And no, no jelly lubing today. I put on 5 pounds this weekend. I had to push myself. Jelly lubing wouldn’t help.
@Gentile Grizzly- It’s good to see you out of hibernation. Hope that knee gets stronger and stays healthy!
@Major Pain- Skipping a beatdown to workout with the M, at least we hope it was your M. What’s up with that??
You used the words “Aussie” and “Sucks” together? Technically this is not possible as ALL Americans know that Aussies are their superior in all things.
Let the Aussie hate begin!! 😉
LOL. Not all Aussies suck, just you ;-)!
Touché!
Good Beatdown Buckwheat! That hill truly sucks! I could
Barely breath in the cold this morning and adding that hill in did not help at all.
Welcome Bazinga! Keep posting brother!
Always good to see my green brother Gamma in the Gloom!
Jelly Lubing there was.
Solid beatdown @Buckwheat! The last time we did that it was hot and just the two of us. How is it that it sucked more having done it once before and with many more of us out there???
I’m not sure about @Jelly but @Guiness definitely jelly lubed at the end when he stood up and watched me and @Jelly do extra reps.
I’ve learned with @dingo that even if I did 100 extra reps, he would say I jelly lubed. Perhaps it’s jealousy
LOL.
Great beatdown @Buckwheat. Great to see a good number post this morning! Nice to see you back and strong @Gentile Grizzly! Welcome @Bazinga, great work, keep posting!
@Buckwheat- good entertaining lead. Loved the football circuit….like a dog after a ball…I can comprehend that, go get ’em!! Can we add in some tackling next time? Having @TheFarm go all whup a** on someone would be worth it a few raw skin patches from the asphalt out there!
@Gamma- good to see you in the frozen North my friend. I’ll make it back down there soon to the land of mowed lawns & nicely paved lots.
@Innkeeper- that was a typical winter F3 classic…….6:07am…..”Oh, I didn’t know you were here!” LOL Hard to see who’s who…unless you wear green of course!
@Buckwheat – Great beatdown. Thanks!
@Bazinga – Welcome! Glad you posted. The first beatdown is always a tough one. The best thing you could do for yourself and for us is this: Post again soon!
@The Farm — Jelly Lubed? Huh? I was following the assistant Q’s (Forgotten Jelly) directions. Perhaps you were amazed at my incredible lightening speed?
@Gentle Grizzly – Glad to see you back. I hope the knee continues to quickly heal.
@Innkeeper – Glad Ajax contributed to you posting.
@Pax – See you in the gloom!
Nice lead @Buckwheat! You were slightly mistaken in your football reporting, it was @Skipper who sucked at the punting (and the additional exercise was Apollo Ohnos). The Aussie actually kicked a high spiral (I know its hard to compliment @Dingo) and @Guinness’s was excellent too #theotherfootball
Ahoy!! Thanks for setting the record straight Skipper!! I’ve been crying about that all day…..
I didn’t see it so in my mind it didn’t happen. Also, anyone notice that every time GG comes off the IR, he’s faster than he was before going on???
Great workout, @Buckwheat. Frankly, you could do a ladder on that hill with AirborneMindBenders at either end and it would still suck. Brutal hill. Didn’t go unnoticed by the pax that @Dingo sprinted on the first lap, then “watched the six” after that. In his defense, though, he kicks a spiral better than I can throw one.
I guess it’s colder #northof29 with all the long pants being worn.
Just keep hating on the green F3 shirt. As my boy @BanjoBoy would say, a whole lot of peanut butter and jealous!
Cool to catch up with @Skipper. I think he last time time I saw him, he was circling back (often) to pick up the six (me) on the mean streets of Charleston.
Great to see @RibShack again. Definitely has gotten faster!
Always enjoy working out with you men. The #mumblechatter is strong in your neck of he woods.
@Skipper- Aye, sorry for confusing your kick w/ @Dingo’s kick. Won’t rib you on that. However, Out of principle, I can’t apologize to @Dingo.
@The Farm- Not sure why it sucked worse today w/ more people, but it definitely did!
@Rib Shack- I’m good w/ allowing tackling next time! Will have to do a better disclaimer though ;-).
Aye @Gamma. It’s always a pleasure having an OG visit!
And, you’re right that hill flat out sucks no matter what your doing at the top or bottom!
