What I am thankful for: F3; Fitness, Faith, Fellowship… MIP’s mission
All All MECA BackblastsNovember 15th, 2015
21 men went above and beyond to demonstrate the ideals of F3. With help from other AO’s they brought 35 turkeys, and then stayed to see what type of a workout Marv would deliver (and no he didn’t use the turkeys as weights).
The Thang: SSH x30 as the last stragglers beat Thunder Road traffic and brought in the final birds.
Mosey to grassy lot: COP Merkins, Knee ups, plank, 15 IC low plank March.
Mosey to Train track parking lot (across from Draught). Baryshnikov right x 10, AYG stairs 2x back to lot, lbc for the 6, sumo jump squats, Baryshnikov left x 10, AYG stairs 4x then wall sits with air presses for the 6. Mosey to S. Cedar St and W Hill street corner. Flutters (feet off the curb), x 25. Mosey to loading dock, 7’s across the dock, with donkey kicks and Derkins. Wall sits for the 6.
Partner up: partner a) 3 burpees; partner b) backwards run up Hill St. Partner A) sprints after Partner B, when catches they flip flop.
At top of the hill, COP Merkins, protractors (stop for traffic) resume protractor, hi-low flutters, crunchy frogs (lots of mumble chatter here, so time to run). Mosey to corner of Eldridge and Morris St. 4 corners (aka variant of a Lee 500). Run (AYG) corner to corner (Morris/Cedar, Cedar/Hill, Hill/Eldridge, Eldridge/Morris). At each corner 25 knee ups. AYG to Cedar, 10 crossfit Merkins OYO. Back to grass for COP pax choice (Kiawah Imperial Walkers,Deer Tick 10 burpees OYO, Skoal Bandit LBC’s, Marv Peter Parker Merkins). Mosey to COT.
NMM: First of YHC has to say a giant thank you. Thank you El Deuce for checking the sign up genius, coming prepped to Q and then letting YHC take the helm. Thank you Carrier, Deer Tick and Revs efforts to offer a delivery service to the PAX. Due to their hard work F3 was able to donate 35 turkeys in one day. Thank you to the PAX at AG and the Worm as well as our Region Nan’tan TML who made sure there was a pile of turkeys waiting for me after the Worm to bring as well. Without the efforts of everyone involved I don’t think the day goes as well as it did. Thank you to all the new faces and 2._’s who showed up and offered a turkey as well as offering the gentlemen of Rebound the opportunity to see our group, and not just the shaggy red-haired Q. YHC hopes the delayed start time so the PAX could see the facility was worth your time. I am grateful for the MIP PAX who push themselves as well as offer up the best and most honest COT in all of F3.
However, just as fitness is an ongoing process, this turkey drive is NOT over either. YHC and several PAX members were reminded how many people Charlotte Rescue Mission will be serving this holiday. The organization is looking for 600 turkeys this holiday. Between Rebound, Dove’s Nest, two schools, several organizations volunteering to cook those birds, CRM still wants and needs F3’s help. Currently, CRM only has 235, so less than half of what they need. Since F3 Metro, A51,and MECA easily have over 200 Pax members even if half the PAX decided to donate a bird, by driving it to the Charlotte Rescue Mission, by seeing Marv on Friday or Saturday morning (YHC always posts Jungle) or by seeing what MIP is all about. While yes, as the holidays approach there will always be groups asking for donations, but some of you will spend more than a turkey on libations at your holiday festivities. So, again just like waking up before 5am, it’s your choice to post or not. Just like it’s your choice to donate or not. However, you should. So this week, come find me in the gloom, or get out to to 907 W 1st Street and continue to be the leader of men, leader of our families, and leader of our communities that we claim to be.
