November “Old Glory” at Tradition

All All MECA Backblasts

November 5th, 2015 By Man Down

9 faithful from Tradition’s and The Precinct’s AOs gathered together in the gloom for the monthly “You-vs-You” WIB (Workout In a Bag) installment of OLD GLORY. Shovel flags were planted and the run began at 5:30am sharp! The plan, as always, was straightforward…push yourself as hard as you can for 30 minutes straight doing the following…

The Thang:

Start at Shovel Flags and run 1 mile loop. Then…

  1. Station #1: 20 x Merkins (front/right corner of Church)
  2. Station #2: 20 x Jump Squats (back/right corner of Church)
  3. Station #3: 10 x Pull-ups (Outback) – Give those bars a sweet kiss goodbye as they will be removed this weekend!
  4. Station #4: 20 x WWII Sit-ups (near street)

Back to Shovel Flags  – That’s 1 round.

Rinse & repeat Stations 1-4 as many times as you can (each loop is 0.4 miles). Regroup at 6am, then finish with another 1 mile run, casual this time, front man carries Old Glory and six carries The Tradition black flag.

The Sweaty Moleskin:

Results are posted HERE with your name and number of complete laps plus additional stations completed around the AO (rounded down to nearest quarter lap). Previous round totals are posted as well. Plan to beat your own record next month! As usual, these are intentionally not listed in order of who “won” because this event is not a competition with one another, but rather a true “You vs You” opportunity to push your own limits. Whether you did 1 full round or 5, the point was to do YOUR best. Great job by all!

Announcements:

  1. SATURDAY is StoneBridge’s annual Church Work Day. There are lots of jobs that require a bunch of F3-caliber men to help out with. Let’s say “THANKS” to the church by showing up to help out! M’s and older kids are welcome too! Work starts at 8am and will wrap up around noon.
  2. Another StoneBridge-related announcement. The church’s annual Men’s Retreat is coming up NEXT WEEKEND and this Sunday is the LAST day to sign up! If you’ve been before, you know how powerful and life-changing these retreats can be. If you’ve never been, please join us! The cost is $99.99, but if you can’t afford that just ask Dutch and he’ll hook you up! HERE is the link to sign up.
  3. SAVE THE DATE – Saturday 12/5 – Run For Your Life 5K in the AM and F3 Christmas Party in the PM. Details coming soon!
  4. Prayers for Guinness’ brother (MS diagnosis), Forgotten Jelly’s co-worker’s family (co-worker just passed away), and King Louie’s family (uncle just passed away)

  2. Good job by all this morning. I’ve always enjoyed this workout. I’ve missed it while I was training for the half-marathon.

  3. @mandown I appreciate your efforts in coordinating this and keeping track of our results. I also like the aspect that this is a competition of you versus you.

  4. @MANDOWN- thanks for always setting the pace for everyone

    Good post, enjoyed it!

  5. Because of the half marathon training, it had been a while since I made it out for an Old Glory workout. Was great to be out there again. T minus 9 days until the half marathon.
