12 pax including one of our newer Mint Hill brothers made it out for the 5:30 edition of the Sunday run. I-485 opens this week, so no more running on that stretch of road. Quite the exclusive F3 club that will be able to tell their grand-kids, grand-kids about the days when they didn’t drive flying cars, they drove cars that were limited to “roads” and that we once ran on some of those “interstate roads”. Oh I can see the rapt attention we will get…then they will leave us at the old folks center and go home to their fully automated house.
The Thang:
- Head for Chowder’s “Ricky, Tommy, Bobby Loop” and merge with no traffic on the almost opened I-485 stretch towards Huntersville. Turn at the 3.5 mike mark to come in at a respectable 7 miles.
The Naked Moleskin:
- The group started together and then broke into a few different pace groups which was great. A little something for everyone.
- Sprinkles came into the run unsure of how the body would handle the biggest distance since he was 17 yrs old but he seemed fine to me. He and Stoli set the pace for the first 3.5 miles.
- Chopper and filibuster did a little mud run training and climbed up the highway embankment, jumped a fence, and navigated back to HC Parkway.
- Google felt the twinge of his unwelcome calve twinge and made a good call to keep the pace and distance moderate.
- Kato and Meathead regaled us with tales of marathon length track meets that started in the early morning hours and ended at 3AM the next day… And we all thought swim meets were long….
- Bootstrap is enjoying one aspect of the new job – that he does not have to drive into dirty, muddy construction areas. Hence him pulling up in a shiny, sparkling truck with a sweet looking set of tires & wheels.
Great way to start the morning guys. Awesome group out there today.
I missed a couple names – sound off please. Missed Chavez as well. He was there when we got back…not sure exactly what happened but it involved a 2.2 #Cuddlesack.
Nice run guys…great way to start the day. @Google… Hope the leg is feeling better. @Stoli and @Chowder….way to pick up the pace at the end.
I put my time in for this one …. just goes to show I need to make it out more often to be remembered for the pax list.
