Spartan Beast

South Carolina hosted a few thousand Spartans for 12+miles and 27 obstacles and it went something like this:

Over-Unders

6ft Wall

Balance Beams

Tractor Pull

Log Hop

Tire Drag

O-U-T (over-under-throughs)

Monkey Bars

Traverse Wall

Inverted Wall

Spear Throw

Big Cargo

7ft Wall

Atlas Carry

8ft Wall

Bucket Carry

10ft Wall

Swim

Hercules Hoist

Rope Climb

Lattice Bridge

Slip Wall

Fire Jump

Moleskin:

There were a few more obstacles but I honestly can’t remember what they were but I’m pretty sure burpees were involved.  This race marked the completion of my first Spartan Trifecta (Sprint-Super-Beast).  Sure there were times I wondered what I was doing out there.  Let’s face it, I’m not particularly fast and have a few spare parts held together with chewing gum and duct tape.  With that being said, it has been an awesome journey.  Special shout out to Padre for joining me at the Spartan Super in VA back in August (how many guys get to have an adventure like that with their pastor).  Special thanks to Christine, Nick and Angel that joined me on some of the different races and my brother-in-law Jason who joined me for all three.  And to my wife Melissa, thank you for putting up with me through all of my shenanigans and ridiculousness.  I look forward to doing it again next year.  Hope you can make it!
